The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that ten people lost their lives while eleven others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a fatal crash that occurred on Friday night, October 10, 2025, along the Obajana–Lokoja route, specifically at Apamaru.

According to preliminary investigations by the FRSC crash investigation team, the accident was caused by excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking by the driver, which led to a loss of control during a night journey.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, while expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident, reiterated that night travels, excessive speeding, and reckless overtaking remain among the leading causes of fatal road accidents in Nigeria. He advised motorists, particularly commercial vehicle operators, to comply with traffic rules and drive responsibly to safeguard lives.

He also urged passengers to be alert and proactive by cautioning or reporting drivers who engage in dangerous driving behaviour. The Corps Marshal further announced that the FRSC will strengthen enforcement measures against overloading and intensify public education campaigns to discourage night journeys along critical routes nationwide.
