A total of 108 rural women in Rivers State have received business support worth ₦12 million to boost small-scale enterprises and enhance their livelihoods.
The initiative, aimed at empowering women in rural communities, provided each beneficiary with financial assistance and business resources to expand their ventures in agriculture, petty trading, and cottage industries.
Community leaders described the intervention as a timely measure to cushion the rising cost of living and encourage self-reliance among women. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the support would help them grow their businesses, cater for their families, and contribute to local economic development.
The empowerment programme aligns with ongoing efforts to reduce poverty and promote inclusive growth in Rivers State by focusing on women, who play a pivotal role in sustaining households and local economies.
Officials added that monitoring and mentorship will follow the disbursement to ensure the support yields long-term benefits for the women and their communities.
