Former Kano State Governor and 2023 Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, dispelling speculations of an imminent defection ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the 9th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the NNPP in Abuja, Kwankwaso told party members and supporters that he remained firmly rooted in the party and had no intention of abandoning it. He emphasized that the NNPP was united, confident, and ready to play a decisive role in Nigeria’s future leadership.

“We have our party and we are comfortable. We are happy and ready to do whatever it takes. We are not in a hurry, but we believe we have something to offer at the highest leadership level in this country. And we want to do it the right way,” Kwankwaso declared. He added that the party was open to dialogue and collective negotiations, stressing fairness, inclusivity, and strong identity-based membership as guiding principles.

On his part, the National Chairman of the NNPP, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, assured members that Kwankwaso would be presented as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2027 election. He described the NNPP as the “beautiful bride of Nigerian politics,” noting that the party’s rising popularity and growing membership base had positioned it as one of the most attractive political platforms ahead of the polls.
