Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has declared that no individual or group will determine his successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election. He described anyone harboring such thoughts as misguided, stressing that he alone will decide on the matter at the appropriate time.

Speaking at a one-day sensitization workshop for political appointees in Lafia, the governor disclosed that he already has a preferred candidate in mind but would unveil the choice when the time is right. He emphasized that the decision would not be influenced by personal or political pressure but guided by the need to ensure continuity, sustain investor confidence, and advance the state’s development.

Governor Sule issued a strong warning to his appointees, directing them to remain loyal to his leadership. He categorically stated that any officeholder found openly supporting a governorship aspirant would be immediately relieved of their appointment. According to him, those who cannot abide by this directive are free to resign and follow their chosen aspirants.

The governor reiterated that his choice of a successor would be based on competence, diplomacy, and the ability to maintain peace and progress in Nasarawa State. He dismissed suggestions that powerful individuals or political figures could sway his decision, insisting that the responsibility rests solely on him as the sitting governor.
