Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has raised concerns over the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) preparedness for the 2027 general elections. He stated that the party currently faces significant challenges, including financial constraints, which could limit its ability to sponsor a presidential candidate.
Wike highlighted that while the PDP has capable members and loyalists, internal disagreements and organisational issues have slowed progress. Some party members aligned with Wike have reportedly put their political ambitions on hold amid ongoing uncertainty within the party.
Despite these challenges, Wike affirmed that the PDP remains committed to contesting in the 2027 elections and emphasised the need for strategic preparation, party unity, and building grassroots support before fielding candidates.
