2027: PDP Remains Strong and United Despite Internal Differences — Senator Jonah Jang

Ex-Plateau State Governor and Senator Jonah Jang has reaffirmed the strength and unity of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level, declaring that the party remains formidable and free of factions since its founding in 1998. Speaking at the party caucus of Plateau North Senatorial District, Jang emphasized that while some founding members have strayed, the PDP continues to stand strong on the principles established by its genuine founders.

The caucus also unanimously endorsed incumbent Governor Caleb Mutfwang, his deputy Josephine Puyo, and Chris Hassan, the state PDP chairman, for a second term in office. Senator Jang lamented the defection of some members, saying, “It makes no sense when founding members abandon their own house. True founding fathers remain loyal, regardless of provocation or personal gain.”

Senator Jang highlighted the role of party stalwarts in ensuring the zoning of the presidency to the Southern part of the country after the tenure of the late President Buhari, stressing that some individuals manipulated the process for personal advantage. He further underscored the need to return the PDP chairmanship to the North Central after the tenure of the incumbent chairman, Umar Damagum, to maintain political balance within the party.

He urged members to show loyalty and support for the party, particularly for Plateau State PDP as the only PDP-governed state in the North Central. “Plateau State PDP must remain united. Those who do not truly love the party cannot pretend to now. True love shows in loyalty, not in political gymnastics,” Jang stated, stressing the importance of maturity and responsibility in party politics.
