In a bid to streamline the visa application process, Thailand has launched a new e-visa platform, effective January 1, 2025. The initiative allows foreign nationals residing in select African countries to apply for Thai visas online.

The program, operational from 10:00 AM (UTC+7), is available to residents of the following countries:

• Federal Republic of Nigeria

• Republic of Benin

• Republic of Cameroon

• Republic of Ghana

• Central African Republic

• Republic of the Congo

• Republic of Equatorial Guinea

• Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe

• Republic of Chad

Key Features of the E-Visa Platform:

1. Online Applications Only: All applications must be submitted via the official e-visa website (www.thaievisa.go.th).

2. No In-Person Submissions: Applicants no longer need to submit passports or supporting documents in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja.

Confirmation and Travel Procedures:

• Upon approval, applicants will receive a confirmation email.

• A printed copy of this email must be presented at the port of departure and to Thai immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand.

Transition Details:

The in-person visa application procedure at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja ended on December 20, 2024, making the e-visa platform the sole avenue for visa processing.

This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing accessibility and convenience for travelers, as Thailand continues to promote tourism and foster international relations.
