Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Africa’s leading electric vehicle company, Spiro, to introduce his own line of electric bikes across the continent.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Davido revealed that the initiative is aimed at empowering motorcycle riders and providing a Made-in-Africa solution to address transportation needs in Africa.
“Years ago, I claimed 30 BG, but it wasn’t just about success – it was about purpose,” he wrote. “Today, I’m transforming that vision into something bigger: generational wealth and ownership. With my own line of electric bikes, in partnership with Spiro, we’re building a movement, not just a product.”
Davido highlighted the pivotal role motorcycles play in Africa’s economy, with over 27 million bikes supporting the livelihoods of 80% of riders. He described the venture as an opportunity to give back to the same Okada riders who contributed to his success by spreading his music and story across the continent.
“These same Okada drivers, who have supported me throughout my career, are now at the center of this vision. They moved my music, my name, and my story across every corner of Nigeria and Africa. Now it’s time to give back,” he explained.
Davido emphasized the importance of creating solutions designed in Africa to meet the continent’s unique challenges. He framed the electric bike line as a legacy project that aligns with his mantra of “We Rise By Lifting Others.”
“This isn’t just about business – it’s about creating a Made in Africa solution for Africa,” he said. “Streams might belong to foreign labels, but this is how you flip the script. This is how you turn influence into equity, and visibility into ownership.”
To support riders across Africa, the initiative includes financing options, empowering those who rely on motorcycles as a vital source of income.
Davido praised Spiro and his team for the innovative design of the electric bikes, hinting at their sleek and modern appearance. “These bikes are fly! Big shoutout to Tycoone and the Spiro team for the groundbreaking design – can’t wait until we reveal the final product,” he said.
The electric bikes will be available in Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ghana, with riders encouraged to sign up through Spiro’s website.
“This is more than a deal; it’s a statement,” Davido concluded. “It’s ownership, empowerment, and legacy in motion. Africa is not just catching up – we’re redefining what it means to lead. The future isn’t waiting for us – we’re driving straight into it.”
The venture represents a bold step in Africa’s shift toward sustainable transportation while empowering individuals and promoting local solutions for global challenges.
