President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed more than 64,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other political groups in Jigawa State who have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The report was made by Mamman Mohammed, Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor of Jigawa State, who provided details of the event.
Represented by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, the President assured the new members that they would enjoy equal rights and opportunities within the ruling party.
“From today, you will be treated equally with older members of the party. We are proud of your courage and determination to support the APC in its mission to advance national development,” President Tinubu stated.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing national security, protecting lives and property, and completing key infrastructure projects that will stimulate economic growth.
“Government will ensure the completion of the Kano–Maiduguri federal highway to boost the movement of goods and services and promote economic prosperity,” the President added.
President Tinubu also commended Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi for his developmental achievements, describing his leadership as impactful and people-centered.
The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who led members of the party’s National Working Committee to the event, praised Governor Danmodi for his performance and encouraged the new members to be active participants in the party.
“This party belongs to you. Feel at home and work for its continued success,” Yilwatda said.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim Masari, called on the people of Jigawa to continue supporting the APC and the administration of President Tinubu.
“APC will keep working to improve the lives of Jigawa citizens and Nigerians at large,” Masari assured.
In his welcome address, Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support, noting that it has contributed greatly to the progress of Jigawa State.
“With the new defections, APC remains unchallenged in Jigawa State,” the Governor declared.
