The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced plans to launch the FIRS e-Invoice, a digital platform aimed at improving invoice management and tax administration in Nigeria. The initiative aligns with the Tax Administration and Enforcement Act of 2007, enhancing the efficiency and transparency of tax-related processes.

This announcement was made on Wednesday in Lagos during a stakeholders’ engagement organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and FIRS, which focused on “Emerging Tax Matters.” Dr. Zacchaeus Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of FIRS, was represented by Oti Olaniyi, Acting Director of the Medium Taxpayers Department.

Olaniyi highlighted the importance of the e-invoice system as part of the country’s ongoing efforts to modernize its tax system. He stressed the significance of collaboration, saying, “Our collective efforts will pave the way for a more prosperous and resilient Nigeria.”

He further encouraged stakeholders to provide constructive feedback to help refine the initiative, ensuring a more robust economy that benefits all Nigerians.

The launch of the FIRS e-Invoice is seen as a step forward in Nigeria’s drive for innovation in tax administration, aiming to create a more transparent and efficient system for businesses and taxpayers alike.
