The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to digitalise the operations of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), moving toward a completely paperless system through the Cabinet Affairs Office (CAO).

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Senator George Akume, CON, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, represented by Dr. Emanso Okop Umobong, Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Affairs Office, described the initiative as a “landmark step” in modernising government operations. He noted that the digitalisation effort will improve efficiency in documentation and archival processes, easing the workload of ministers who currently handle large volumes of council documents. Senator Akume highlighted that after achieving real-time transcription of council proceedings in December 2024, the next phase will see the FEC operating fully paperless by December 2025.

For his part, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, emphasized the agency’s readiness to replicate its successful digital transformation within the OSGF. The collaboration underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and a digital working environment across its institutions.
