The Anambra State Government has added solar installation, GSM repairs, plumbing, and other vocational courses to the Junior Secondary School (JSS) curriculum in a move to promote early skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
The reform introduces 15 practical subjects, including garment making, agriculture and food processing, tiling, event management, bakery, digital literacy, IT, robotics, interior design, and CCTV installation. Officials say the initiative is aimed at reducing youth unemployment, encouraging self-reliance, and aligning education with modern economic needs.
Launching the programme in Awka, the Chairperson of the Post-Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, said the policy marks a shift from theory-based learning to practical, market-relevant education.
The programme will be rolled out across public junior secondary schools in the state. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
