The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has commissioned and formally handed over the UBEC Model Smart School in Hadejia, a flagship initiative aimed at repositioning basic education as a catalyst for national development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The school is equipped with ICT-enabled classrooms, a Digital Learning Resource Centre, modern laboratories, e-libraries, robotics and innovation groups, and dedicated facilities to support learners with special needs, emphasizing STEM education, creativity, and critical thinking.

Following the commissioning, the facility has been handed over to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for staffing and day-to-day management, while UBEC will continue as a technical-support partner to ensure the sustainability and effective implementation of the initiative. The model school is designed to transform teaching and learning through modern infrastructure, digital technology, and innovative pedagogy.

UBEC commended the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, the Honourable Minister of Education, and all stakeholders for their leadership, collaboration, and commitment to advancing quality basic education. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships that translate policy into impact, ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to a future-ready and inclusive education system.
