FirstBank has reassured its over 42 million customers that its upcoming migration to a new cloud-based procurement and financial platform will not disrupt banking services. The transition, scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 26, 2024, will only impact the bank’s supplier platform and not customer-facing systems.
In a statement issued Thursday, FirstBank clarified, “This transition relates to the bank’s platform with suppliers only. It does not affect its banking systems, customer transactions, channels, etc.” The bank’s existing I-Supplier platform, which currently manages supplier interactions, will be replaced with a more efficient cloud-based system. The migration process will run until Sunday, November 3, 2024, with the new platform set to go live on Monday, November 4.
This supplier platform upgrade is part of FirstBank’s ongoing investment to enhance operational efficiencies and service quality. While suppliers will experience temporary access limitations, customers’ banking activities will remain unaffected.
The announcement follows recent incidents where Nigerian banks faced public backlash during system upgrades that impacted customer transactions. In response, FirstBank addressed customer concerns on social media, reaffirming that banking services would continue as usual throughout the migration period.
FirstBank’s move aligns with a broader trend in the financial industry, as institutions adopt advanced cloud solutions to improve vendor management and operational performance.
