Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has authorized the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000 to be paid to state employees beginning in August.
Following a meeting with the governor behind closed doors at the state Government House, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), made an announcement regarding this event.
During the May Day celebration in 2024, Governor Fintiri had previously promised to put the federal government’s resolution on the new minimum wage into effect.
The Accountant General’s office has been entrusted with updating the August payroll in accordance with the revised wage percentages, which will be determined using the 2019 consequential adjustment template, according to Fashe.
The National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission’s requisite review may take some time to complete, thus local government employees may not receive their pay increases until September.
