The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Nigerian Police of obstructing its campaign activities in Sagamu, Ogun State, ahead of the Remo Federal Constituency by-election. The party alleges that despite obtaining prior approval for the rally, police operatives disrupted the event, citing the presence of Governor Dapo Abiodun and his All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the area as justification.

ADC State Chairman Femi Soluade reported that during the rally at Isale Oko, the campaign entourage, including former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, was blocked by the Divisional Police Officer and Area Commander. The police allegedly ordered them to return to Abeokuta, claiming that the area was occupied by APC members. Additionally, the party’s equipment, such as canopies, chairs, and musical instruments, were reportedly seized or destroyed, and an armored vehicle was stationed to intimidate party members .

The ADC has condemned these actions as undemocratic and biased, asserting that such interference undermines the constitutional rights of opposition parties to campaign freely. The party vows to continue its activities and not be deterred by what it describes as political intimidation .

In a related development, the ADC has dismissed a viral video claiming that Aregbesola was stoned during the campaign rally. The party describes the video as a fabrication, alleging that it was doctored from footage of the #EndSARS protests in Osun State to discredit Aregbesola and the ADC. The ADC maintains that no such incident occurred during the rally and urges the public to disregard the misleading video .
