Prominent politicians including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Aminu Tambuwal have spearheaded a protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its refusal to recognize the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark. The leaders gathered at the party headquarters to express their grievances, calling the INEC decision a threat to internal democracy.

The protesting politicians argued that the party has undergone a legitimate leadership transition, which INEC’s refusal undermines. They insisted that recognizing the current leadership is crucial for the ADC’s participation in upcoming elections and for maintaining political stability within the party. Supporters chanted slogans and carried banners demanding that the electoral body respect the party’s constitution.

Speaking during the protest, several leaders emphasized that the party remains committed to democratic principles and would continue to push for fair treatment by the electoral commission. They warned that failure to address the matter could have broader implications for political inclusiveness and the credibility of the electoral process in the country.
