ADC Raises Alarm Over Possible Exclusion from 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed concern that it may be unable to field candidates in the 2027 general elections, alleging a plot linked to its reported derecognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the situation as a deliberate attempt to sideline it from participating in the next electoral cycle.

The ADC claimed that the move to deregister or derecognise the party is politically motivated and aimed at weakening opposition voices ahead of the 2027 polls. It warned that such actions could undermine democratic principles and limit political participation.

According to the party, if the issue is not resolved, it may be unable to nominate or field candidates for various elective positions in the upcoming elections.

The development adds to growing tensions between some opposition parties and INEC over regulatory decisions, as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
