Engr. John Olufemi Adesuyi, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election, has promised to declare a state of emergency in the agricultural sector if elected.
Adesuyi made the announcement during the official unveiling of the ZLP campaign manifesto in Osogbo, emphasizing the critical role agriculture plays in Osun’s economy. “Agriculture is the backbone of our state, yet it has been largely neglected. My administration will revitalize the sector, create jobs, and ensure food security for our people,” he said.
The candidate outlined plans to generate at least 50,000 new jobs in agriculture, alongside initiatives to support small and medium enterprises, empower youth and women, and promote digital transformation across local businesses. He also stressed that development would be inclusive across all 30 local government areas of the state.
Highlighting the ZLP’s readiness, Adesuyi noted that the party has functional structures in every local government, positioning it to implement its programs effectively. He further urged citizens to reject vote-buying and political patronage, advocating instead for issue-based voting.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 8, 2026, and Adesuyi’s campaign is focusing on agriculture, economic revitalization, and accountable governance as the pillars of his manifesto. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
