At the 2025 Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), Group Chief Executive, Adewale Tinubu, joined African and Asian business leaders to deliberate on energy security, sustainable development, and the growing role of indigenous enterprises in strengthening Japan-Africa relations and fostering a resilient global economy.

The high-level forum, which brings together heads of government, policymakers, and business champions, provides a platform for advancing partnerships that support Africa’s development priorities while addressing global challenges. Tinubu emphasised the critical importance of African-led solutions in the energy sector, highlighting the continent’s potential to drive sustainable growth through innovation and indigenous enterprise.

TICAD is organised by the Government of Japan in collaboration with the African Union, UNDP Africa, the World Bank, and the UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa. This year’s conference continues to serve as a bridge for Africa-Asia cooperation, with discussions focused on investment, economic diversification, and long-term strategies for inclusive development.
