The African Union Commission (AUC) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as the principles of religious freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.

In a statement following high-level engagements with Nigerian authorities and regional partners, the AUC emphasized the importance of respecting Nigeria’s constitutional order and promoting inclusive governance in line with the African Charter on Democracy, Elections, and Governance.

The Commission reiterated that Nigeria remains a cornerstone of stability and leadership in West Africa, and underscored the AU’s readiness to continue supporting the country’s efforts to strengthen peace, unity, and social cohesion.

The AUC further called on all stakeholders to uphold democratic values, protect human rights, and foster an environment of mutual respect and tolerance across the nation’s diverse communities.

This reaffirmation reflects the African Union’s broader commitment to advancing good governance, regional cooperation, and sustainable development across the continent.
