Nigerian airline Air Peace has launched direct flights from Abuja to London Heathrow Airport, strengthening its international network and giving Nigerian travelers a new non-stop route to the UK.

The inaugural flight departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The event was graced by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who described it as a major milestone for indigenous carriers.

“This is another proud moment for Nigerian aviation. Air Peace has proven that our local airlines can compete globally,” Keyamo said.

The new service operates three times weekly using a Boeing 777, with fares starting from around ₦1 million for economy class tickets. It follows Air Peace’s earlier success with its Lagos–London Gatwick route.

The government reaffirmed support for local airlines expanding abroad, noting that the new route enhances Nigeria’s connectivity and promotes fair participation in international aviation.

Air Peace Chairman Allen Onyema called the launch “a victory for Nigerian aviation and travelers seeking affordable, direct connections to the UK.”
