A council consisting of 197 men was introduced by the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee on Wednesday in anticipation of the governorship election in Edo State on September 21.

The campaign council’s chairman, Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, was named in the list made public by APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu.

Dikko Radda, the governor of Katsina State, and Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo, who were named as co-chairman and deputy chairman, respectively, would support Otu.

Additional members of the 197-person team include Assistant Secretary Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and other governors elected on the APC platform.

The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, who just left the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to join the APC, is also on the list. In the poll scheduled for September 21, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC will compete against Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party and Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the ruling party.
