Saidu Ahmed Alkali has resigned from his position as Minister of Transportation to contest the upcoming governorship election in Gombe State.

The former minister announced his decision after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday. His resignation follows established political practice requiring public office holders to step down before seeking elective positions.

Alkali is expected to formally declare his governorship ambition in the coming days as political activities intensify ahead of the election in the state.
