Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared his intention to contest the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking with journalists in Kano State on Wednesday after a meeting with a group of traders, Amaechi stated that he would not step down for any other aspirant in the party. He stressed the need for the ADC to conduct a transparent primary, which he said would strengthen the party and deepen internal democracy.
Amaechi criticized the current state of the nation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying Nigerians were experiencing hardship across the country. He argued that his candidacy offered unity, noting that he was better prepared than other aspirants, including the President.
During his visit to Kano, Amaechi also paid a condolence visit to the family of the late business magnate, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
