The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that Plateau State will deliver more than one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Yilwatda made the projection while addressing party stakeholders from the Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency at a meeting in Plateau State, where he said the political landscape of the state had changed significantly since the 2023 general elections. According to him, the APC has consolidated its presence in the state, with several former opponents now aligning with the party, including commissioners, local government chairmen and other key appointees linked to the current state administration.

Describing PKK as a traditional stronghold of the APC, the party chairman recalled that the constituency recorded major electoral victories for the party in 2023, winning two of the three local governments in the presidential election, as well as seats in the Senate, House of Representatives and the Plateau State House of Assembly. He said these results reflect the growing grassroots strength of the party in the area.

Yilwatda assured party members that the APC is targeting a sweeping victory in the constituency and across the state in 2027. He said President Tinubu is expected to record some of his highest vote totals in Plateau, both in absolute numbers and percentage terms, adding that the party aims to win in every ward and polling unit within PKK.

He also highlighted what he described as increasing unity within the party at both state and national levels, noting that the APC currently controls the governorship, the national chairmanship, most National Assembly and state Assembly seats, as well as key local government positions in Plateau State.

The APC chairman further disclosed that the party has resolved to stop public criticism of the state governor, opting instead for private engagement and constructive dialogue in the interest of good governance. At the national level, he pointed to the party’s dominance, citing its majority in the National Assembly and control of 29 state governments, alongside ongoing internal reforms such as digital membership registration and plans to establish a new national secretariat in Abuja.
