The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Edo electorate and the general public to disregard circulating reports on social media that are presenting misleading vote figures for the ongoing Edo State Gubernatorial Election.
In a statement, the party noted that these reports, being spread by certain political parties, are “bogus” and “highly speculative,” cautioning against premature conclusions. The APC clarified that vote collation at the Ward level is still in progress and that Local Government collation has not yet commenced in many of the state’s LGAs, let alone been completed.
The party emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remains the only institution empowered by law to collate results and officially declare the outcome of the election at all levels—Ward, Local Government, and State.
Although the APC claimed it was in an “early lead,” it reaffirmed its stance as a responsible political party, committed to respecting INEC’s process and waiting for the official announcement of results.
The APC urged voters to disregard the attempts to misrepresent the situation and remain patient for INEC’s final, official verdict.
