The Aspirants’ Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 National Convention has screened the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and asked him to “take a bow,” a gesture reserved for aspirants who meet all requirements with distinction and enjoy broad consensus support.

The screening, held on Tuesday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, was conducted by a 42-member panel chaired by Ekiti State Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. Members of the committee commended Yilwatda’s leadership and described his stewardship of the ruling party as seamless since assuming office.

Oyebanji, alongside other senior party figures, supervised the exercise, which forms part of preparations for the APC’s forthcoming National Convention. While the screening covers aspirants vying for various national offices, the smooth clearance granted to the National Chairman highlights growing unity and stability within the party’s leadership.

The development comes as the APC intensifies preparations for its 2026 National Convention, where key party positions are expected to be contested and filled, with Yilwatda’s unchallenged screening widely seen as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
