The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticised governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of hypocrisy and failure to deliver on their mandate.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party reacted to comments made by PDP governors during their meeting in Zamfara State on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The governors had alleged that the APC lacked vision and that Nigerians would deny it support in the 2027 general elections.
The APC described the PDP as a party in “deep comatose” and rejected by Nigerians, arguing that the opposition governors should be more concerned with reviving their “terminally ailing party” rather than making what it called “frivolous allegations” against the ruling party.
Morka pointed to the APC’s recent victories in bye-elections across states including Zamfara, Adamawa and Kano as proof that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda was resonating with Nigerians. He accused opposition-controlled states of sponsoring violence during the elections but maintained that voters still delivered overwhelming support to APC candidates.
The party further stated that PDP governors were in no position to dictate the direction of Nigerian voters ahead of 2027, adding that the opposition had failed to offer credible alternatives in successive election cycles. Morka urged Nigerians to ignore what he called “empty rhetoric” from the PDP and to stand firmly with President Tinubu and the APC as the administration continues on its path of development and prosperity.
