The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) on Sunday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of Saturday’s local government and councilorship elections held across the state’s 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The election featured five political parties: Accord (A), African Action Congress (AAC), African Development Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Booth Party (BP).

Announcing the results, KTSIEC Chairman Lawal Faskari explained that the collation process extended into Sunday as some LGAs were unable to submit their results on time. With all results compiled, the commission confirmed that APC secured victory in both the chairmanship and councillorship elections across all 34 LGAs by significant margins.

Faskari commended the dedication of ad-hoc staff for conducting the election efficiently within the stipulated timeframe. He also praised the commission’s management and members for their professionalism, while expressing gratitude to party chairmen, election observers, and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring a smooth electoral process.
