The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has criticized Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and some of its members for alleged anti-party activities.

During a press briefing at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, APGA National Chairman Chief Edozie Njoku accused Soludo of undermining the efforts of the Supreme Court-recognized National Working Committee (NWC) to restore unity within the party, all while engaging in actions detrimental to the party’s interests.

Njoku announced that the NWC will release the names of party members, including Soludo, who are facing suspension due to their involvement in these activities on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Regarding the upcoming off-cycle gubernatorial election in Anambra, Njoku stressed that the party has not endorsed any single candidate. He expressed doubts about Soludo’s ability to secure the party’s nomination through the primaries, asserting that all aspirants must participate in a fair and transparent election process.

“Recently, we left the Court of Appeal, where there was an attempt to prevent my recognition by INEC, despite the Supreme Court’s clear ruling that my removal as APGA National Chairman was unjustifiable,” he stated.

He continued, “They filed a suit in Awka, but the judge wisely withdrew from it. They then approached the Federal High Court, trying to secure an interim injunction without our knowledge, going against the Court of Appeal’s orders that confirmed my position.”

Njoku further stated, “Despite the local government elections scheduled for September 28, it’s crucial for Soludo to understand that he is not an emperor in this political system. He has attempted to pass laws that would prevent the party from fielding candidates, conducting activities without the party’s consent.”

He highlighted that the entire NWC stands united against these actions, emphasizing, “I have been advocating for peace within the party. However, we cannot ignore actions that threaten our unity, even if it means suspending elected officials, including the governor.”

Njoku concluded by asserting that no one, including the governor, is above the party. “We must address these issues decisively. I’m not sure what Soludo’s intentions are, but he needs to align himself with the party’s objectives.”
