The Nigerian Army has intercepted over 108 kilograms of cannabis sativa and arrested a suspect during a security operation along the Okene–Lokoja highway in Kogi State.

In a statement, the Army said troops of the 12 Brigade flagged down a suspicious vehicle during routine patrols. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered multiple sacks containing the illicit substance, weighing more than 108kg.

The arrested suspect was taken into custody at the scene, while the recovered drugs were handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

Military officials described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and enhance security across the region. The Okene–Lokoja corridor is considered a major transit route often exploited for the movement of illegal substances between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions.

The Army urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, reiterating its commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining national security. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
