Atalanta Stand Firm on Lookman Valuation Amid Transfer Standoff

As the transfer window nears its close, Atalanta are standing their ground over the future of Ademola Lookman, insisting the Nigerian forward will only be sold if a suitable offer arrives.

Lookman has been pushing for a move away from Bergamo after the club rejected a €45 million bid from Inter Milan on July 29. The Super Eagles star subsequently skipped training for more than a week and released a public statement criticizing Atalanta’s decision.

According to L’Eco di Bergamo, Atalanta are demanding €50 million for the 27-year-old, with Inter’s proposal—worth €45m including bonuses—the only formal bid received this summer. No other club has come close to meeting that valuation.

Despite Lookman’s threat that he will not play for the club again, Atalanta remain adamant: unless their price tag is met, he will stay. Reports suggest the forward, who trained in London last week, has since travelled to Portugal as he awaits a resolution to the saga.

Head coach Ivan Juric admitted he is concerned about the potential departure of one of his key attackers, particularly after losing top scorer Mateo Retegui to a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.

“We lost players who provided 80–90 percent of our goals, and it won’t be easy to replace them,” Juric said.

Lookman was pivotal in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, and his future remains one of the biggest unresolved questions of the Italian transfer market.
