Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday led a delegation to meet with his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Atiku was accompanied by former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, Senator Abdul Ningi, and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
The details of their discussion remain undisclosed, but the meeting comes at a time when opposition politicians are reportedly strategizing to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku served as Obasanjo’s deputy from 1999 to 2007 and was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023, finishing second to President Bola Tinubu of the APC.
The 78-year-old politician has been a key player in Nigeria’s political landscape for decades, making multiple attempts at the presidency. His latest visit to Obasanjo, a significant political figure, is seen by many as part of ongoing political realignments ahead of 2027.
