The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed that at least two people were killed and another injured after suspected bandits attacked Eruku, a boundary town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state, on Tuesday.
One of the attacks occurred at a parish of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), where a worshipper was shot dead. Another victim’s body was later discovered in the bush, according to police authorities.
In an official statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the incident happened around 6 p.m. on November 18, 2025.
“The DPO Eruku and his team of police operatives, in collaboration with vigilantes, swiftly responded to the sound of gunshots emanating from the outskirts of the town, prompting the hoodlums to flee into the bush,” the statement read.
Police identified the victims as Mr. Aderemi, who was fatally shot inside the church, and Mr. Tunde Asaba Ajayi, whose corpse was found in the bush during a search operation.
A vigilante member, Segun Alaja, sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to ECWA Hospital, Eruku, for treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, commended the rapid response of security operatives and local vigilantes, assuring residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators.
“Security agencies will not relent until these hoodlums are totally decimated,” he said.
