Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has received over 1,000 members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

The event, which drew large crowds from across the 44 local government areas of the state, signified a major political shift as many of the defectors publicly removed their red caps—symbol of the Kwankwasiyya Movement—and pledged allegiance to the ruling APC.

Senator Barau commended the new members for their decision, describing their defection as timely and strategic for the progress of Kano and Nigeria at large. He urged them to remain loyal to the party and to work together in consolidating the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to Barau, the APC remains the only political platform with a clear agenda for development and unity. He assured the defectors of equal treatment and inclusion in the party’s structure, emphasizing that the move further strengthens the APC’s grassroots base in Kano ahead of future elections.
