Spanish champions Barcelona wrapped up their pre-season with a commanding 5-0 victory over Italian side Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday, marking a reconciliation with goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.
New loan signing Marcus Rashford, arriving from Manchester United two weeks ago, made his debut as a substitute, setting up Raphinha’s opener but later missing a simple tap-in. Fermín López and Lamine Yamal each scored twice to complete the rout at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, with the Camp Nou still under renovation.
Before kickoff, Ter Stegen — recently reinstated as captain after a dispute with the club over his back injury — addressed the fans.
“It was important to resolve the issue between the club and me. Now it’s time to look forward,” said the 33-year-old. “We’re going to fight again for all the trophies, and with your help, win as many titles as possible.”
Hansi Flick’s side now turn their focus to defending their La Liga crown, starting away to Mallorca on Saturday.
