Besiktas have officially unveiled Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi after he passed a medical in Istanbul, confirming that formal transfer negotiations with Leicester City are underway.

In a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform on Thursday, the Turkish Super Lig side announced:

“Negotiations have started with professional footballer Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi and his club Leicester City Football Club Limited regarding his transfer.”

Ndidi, 27, has been a key figure at Leicester since joining from Genk in 2017 and was instrumental in their Premier League campaign last season. With only a year left on his contract, his future at the King Power Stadium had been uncertain, attracting interest from several European clubs.

Besiktas view the Super Eagles star as a central part of their midfield rebuild for the 2025/26 season, having already made multiple signings in the current transfer window.

The club confirmed Ndidi underwent an extensive medical assessment at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital, including blood work, orthopaedic checks, cardiology, and lung and endurance tests.

Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg reports that a total agreement has now been reached, with Leicester set to receive €9.5 million for the defensive midfielder.
