Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has issued a stern warning to members of his party contemplating defection. Kwankwaso emphasized that disloyalty and betrayal of party ideals would not yield any lasting benefit.
Speaking during a party meeting in Kano, Kwankwaso reminded members of the sacrifices made in building the NNPP and stressed that loyalty is key to sustaining political credibility. He cautioned that defectors risk not only losing political relevance but also public trust.
“Those who abandon the party and betray the principles we stand for will eventually face the consequences. Betrayal never pays,” Kwankwaso stated, urging members to remain committed to the NNPP’s vision and objectives.
The statement comes amid growing speculation of defections ahead of the 2027 general elections, as some NNPP members explore aligning with other political platforms. Kwankwaso’s warning signals a clear message to party faithful about the importance of unity and ideological consistency.
