
Actress and model Beverly Osu has spoken candidly about the emotional aftermath of her performance in the Netflix original film Òlòtūré, revealing that the intensity of the role left her battling an identity crisis and three months of depression.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Osu explained that her method acting approach required her to fully immerse herself in the dark realities of the character, which made it difficult to detach from the trauma after filming. Òlòtūré is a critically acclaimed drama that exposes the dangers of human trafficking and exploitation of women.
“What we are is what they call method actors. I can’t just read a script, execute it, and in two days become another person. It takes a lot of mental detox before I can enter into another character,” she said, adding that piecing herself back together after filming was a difficult journey.
