Biden Thanks Americans for Support Following Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Joe Biden expressed heartfelt thanks to Americans on Monday for their “love and support” after revealing that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

The 82-year-old former U.S. president disclosed over the weekend that the cancer has spread to his bones, prompting an outpouring of sympathy from across the political spectrum—including from President Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, and countless citizens.

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places,” Biden wrote on X, alongside a photo of himself with his wife. “Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

According to a statement from his office, Biden was diagnosed on Friday following urinary symptoms and the discovery of a prostate nodule.

“While this is a more aggressive form of the disease, it appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management. The President and his family are now reviewing treatment options with his doctors,” the statement said.

Trump, despite past political jabs at Biden’s mental acuity and leadership, offered a conciliatory message: “We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” he posted on Truth Social.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in the U.S., affecting one in eight men during their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society. Though highly treatable when caught early, it remains the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men. Hormone therapy is frequently used to manage the disease, slowing its progression though not offering a cure.
