Popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, spent Monday night in detention at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) annex in Alagbon, Lagos, following his arrest by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS). The arrest took place at the Seme Border at 1:30 a.m. as Bobrisky allegedly attempted to flee the country.
Sources within the FCID confirmed that the social media influencer was apprehended by the NIS and handed over to the police for further questioning. “Yes, he was brought here last night (Monday) by the NIS, where he spent the night. We are going to get a remand today,” said a source at the FCID.
According to Kenneth Udo, a spokesman for the NIS, Bobrisky is classified as “a person of interest” and is being investigated over unspecified “recent issues of public concern.” Udo stated, “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, the NIS intercepted Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border over an attempt to exit the country.”
Bobrisky remains in detention as detectives conduct further investigations into the circumstances surrounding his attempted departure. There are indications that he may spend Tuesday night in custody while the inquiry continues. A formal statement regarding his detention is expected to be released by the FCID later today.
The NIS reiterated its commitment to professionalism in securing Nigeria’s borders and assured the public that the ongoing investigation would be handled with due process and transparency.
