Nigeria striker Victor Boniface has completed the first stage of his medical in Milan as he edges closer to sealing a move from Bayer Leverkusen to AC Milan, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 24-year-old is set to join the Rossoneri on a season-long loan worth €5m, with the deal including a non-mandatory purchase option of around €24m. The total package could rise to nearly €30m.
Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed on X that “Boniface’s AC Milan fitness tests have been completed.” The striker underwent preliminary medical checks before heading to the Galeazzi Hospital in Milan for further examinations.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Matteo Moretto, and Florian Plettenberg, Boniface has also agreed personal terms on a four-year contract, which would take effect if Milan activate the purchase clause next summer.
Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has been keen to bolster his attack, with Santiago Gimenez currently the only fully fit centre-forward. A minor injury to Rafael Leao, deployed as a makeshift striker in the opening match, has further increased the club’s urgency to reinforce their frontline.
The Rossoneri had previously explored moves for Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic but were unable to strike a deal.
If finalized, Boniface will become Milan’s eighth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, Koni De Winter, Pervis Estupiñán, Zachary Athekame, and Pietro Terracciano.
