
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has condemned in strong terms a suicide attack at the Gamboru market mosque in Maiduguri on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, a suspected suicide bomber entered the mosque during the Maghrib prayer, killing five worshippers and injuring 35 others.
Governor Zulum described the attack as a desecration of the sanctity of a place of worship and called for increased vigilance and enhanced security measures, particularly during the festive period.
He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls, as well as a speedy recovery for those injured.
The Governor assured residents that adequate security measures have been implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future and to safeguard places of worship across the state.
