A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on the first of seven terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice James Omotosho held that the prosecution successfully established the elements of the first count beyond reasonable doubt. The judge referenced multiple pieces of evidence, including video interviews tendered in court, in which Kanu was seen issuing violent threats against Nigeria and its citizens.
The remaining six charges are expected to be addressed as the judgment continues.
