The Dangote Group has officially approved the enrolment of its workers at the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals into the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
This development marks a major shift in the company’s labour relations framework, as employees at Africa’s largest refinery complex will now be represented by one of the country’s most influential unions. The decision is expected to strengthen workers’ rights, collective bargaining power, and engagement on welfare issues.
Industry analysts note that the move could reshape labour dynamics within the nation’s oil and gas sector, given the refinery’s central role in Nigeria’s energy future and its projected impact on fuel supply across the continent.
