The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a high-level security alert to the Nigerian Army, warning of an alleged plot by members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) to carry out coordinated attacks in parts of Ondo and Kogi states. According to intelligence shared by the agency, the extremist group is reportedly mobilizing operatives and logistics to target rural communities in the coming days.

Security sources say the DSS has urged immediate deployment of troops and heightened surveillance across border communities linking both states to forestall any surprise offensive. The military and other security agencies are said to be reviewing the intelligence and taking proactive measures to prevent potential loss of life and property.

This latest warning underscores growing concerns over ISWAP’s expanding network beyond Nigeria’s northeast, where the group has traditionally operated. Authorities are calling on residents in the affected regions to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals to security operatives.
