Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has returned to court following the burial of his mother.

El-Rufai was brought before the court on Tuesday after being granted temporary release on compassionate grounds to attend his mother’s funeral.

The former governor has been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged corruption-related charges.

His earlier release allowed him to travel for the burial rites of his late mother, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt.

With the funeral concluded, El-Rufai has now resumed his legal proceedings, as the court is expected to continue hearing pending applications, including his bail request.

The case continues to attract national attention, especially amid claims by El-Rufai that the charges against him are politically motivated.
