Yaba College of Technology has officially unveiled its Plastogas Hub, an innovative plastic-to-gas and upcycling facility aimed at tackling plastic pollution, boosting environmental sustainability, and generating employment opportunities within the institution and surrounding communities.
The new facility is designed to transform plastic waste into usable gas while also promoting recycling and value creation from discarded materials. School authorities said the project aligns with global climate action goals and Nigeria’s drive toward a circular economy.
Beyond reducing plastic litter on campus and nearby areas, the Plastogas Hub is expected to provide hands-on training for students, support research and innovation, and create jobs for residents of neighbouring communities.
Officials described the initiative as a major step toward positioning Yaba College of Technology as a leader in green innovation and sustainable waste management in Nigeria.
