The United States Embassy in Abuja has released a security advisory to American citizens ahead of a planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest expected to take place on Monday in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory. The embassy warned U.S. nationals to exercise heightened caution, avoid large gatherings, and monitor local news for updates on potential disruptions.
According to the alert, the demonstration is anticipated to draw significant crowds demanding the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Security agencies are reportedly on high alert, with reinforcements deployed across key areas of Abuja to prevent unrest and maintain public order.

The embassy also advised U.S. citizens to limit non-essential movement around protest zones, follow instructions from local authorities, and ensure they have updated travel and emergency plans. The notice comes amid growing tensions and renewed calls from pro-Biafra groups for Kanu’s release, raising concerns about possible clashes during the protest.
